Bike MS

received March 6, 2018 I’m reaching out on behalf of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Bike MS.
Tour de Farms, June 23-24, 2018
Bike MS is a two-day cycling event held in St. Charles, IL. Cyclists ride between 35 and 175 miles through scenic Northern Illinois and quaint suburbs. Not only are our teams raising money for the 20,000 families in Illinois affected by multiple sclerosis, but they enjoy a well-supported ride. Bike MS is the largest fundraising cycling series in the country, raising over $68 million annually at 82 rides. Here in Illinois, we raise $1.2 million annually with 1,200 participants. I would love to attend one of your meetings to discuss our ride further and hope to see Arlington Heights Bicycle Association at the ride!

Pedal for Prostate pedalforprostate@gmail.com

received April 15, 2018 Pedal for Prostate

Date: Saturday May 19th, 2018
I organize a charity bike ride in my hometown. The fundraiser supports a local center that provides support to men and their families going through prostate cancer. I also hope to raise awareness about prostate cancer. While the fundraiser is very personal to me, here’s how we have impacted prostate cancer support programs at The Cancer Support Center:
The fundraising from the 2016 Pedal for Prostate helped fund 195 visits totaling 208.5 hours of service for 35 individuals (or their families) with prostate cancer. There are 28 different programs related to Prostate Cancer at the Center, a sampling to include:
The bike ride is on May 19th, at 10 a.m., rain or shine. It starts at Aurelio’s Pizza in Homewood, IL, Aurelio’s flagship store. https://www.aureliospizza.com/location/homewood/.
Individual riders can register in advance or the day of the ride. If you’d like to register in advance, follow the link here or on the attached flyer: https://give.classy.org/PedalforProstate18.
Pedal for Prostate offers three routes of 5 miles, 15 miles, and 25 miles. The 5-mile and 15-mile routes are very family-friendly. Both rides pass by many local parks. The 5-mile route passes by 7 parks, and the 15-mile route passes 13 parks. Since this is a ride and not a race, you are welcome to stop and enjoy some of our local parks.
Our focus this year is on growing the ride. Can you help?
Would your bike club consider sending a team of riders to this event? Here’s our bike club promotion:
A team of 5 can ride for a $75 sign-up fee (savings of $50) and we’ll waive the fundraising requirement. If you do have a team of five, we are happy to make a t-shirt in any team color you’ like and offer to add a team name to your t-shirt. Or maybe, you’d like to ride in honor of someone? You are welcome to add riders to a team for $15 per rider. Contact Keith to sign up with special bike club promotion.
pedalforprostate@gmail.com or 708.921.2478.
Deadline for team name/team color is May 3rd. If you happen to miss the deadline, of course you can have a regular event t-shirt.
If a team from your club isn’t possible, might you :
Thank in advance for your consideration. Feel free to contact me with questions or for special bike club promotion.

Bike The Drive

received April 25, 2018 MB Bike The Drive

Date: Sunday May 27th, 2018
I hope this email finds you well! My name is Gabby, and I’m the volunteer coordinator at Active Transportation Alliance. As you may know, MB Bike the Drive is happening on May 27th. This event is our largest fundraiser of the year and supports our work to make walking, biking and public transit safe and fun throughout Chicagoland.
In preparation, I’m in search of volunteers to help out during the event. We have a variety of volunteer positions both on bike and on foot, but we are especially looking for bike-savvy volunteers to act as ride marshals, as well as rest stop volunteers and course marshals. Volunteers get a free t-shirt and pancake breakfast! Also, groups of 15 or more who volunteer together are eligible to earn a $200 stipend. Would members of Arlington Heights Bicycle Club be interested in getting involved? Individual volunteers can register and find additional details at http://www.bikethedrive.org/volunteer. If your club would like to volunteer as a group, please reach out to me directly.
If you would prefer to ride MB Bike the Drive, you can find out more information at http://www.bikethedrive.org/register. Groups of 10 or more are eligible for discounted group pricing! And, as a bike club president or contact, you’re eligible to become a 2018 MB Bike the Drive Ambassador if you register or are already registered to ride. Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to get 3 friends to sign up for the 2018 MB Bike the Drive! If you get 3 friends to register, we will provide YOU with FREE entry for MB Bike the Drive 2019. If you're up for the challenge we’ll provide you with a custom $5 off code and some messaging about the event that you can share with your friends and family who have not yet registered.
Feel free to reach out to me if you’d like any more information to pass along to your group about volunteering. If you’d like more information on registering to ride or becoming an Ambassador, please contact Kerry at kerry@activetrans.org.
If this email has reached you in error, please let me know!
Cheers,
Gabby
