The Arlington Heights Bicycle Club held an annual community bike swap starting in 1981. Over the years it has been held at the end of April or early May at various locations including Recreation Park, Frontier Park, Pioneer Park, or Centennial Park.
In the fall of 2022, the club decided to terminate future bike swaps. The last swap was in May, 2022. To everyone who has sold a bicycle, purchased a bicycle, or just come to browse over the past 41 years: we express our gratitude.
Our club members have volunteered thousands of hours over the years preparing for and hosting this public event. Our relationship with the Arlington Heights Park District made this event possible.
This has not been an easy decision as we enjoyed the camaradarie and seeing the delight of those purchasing used bicycles. Times have changed. There are many opportunites to sell or purchase used bicycles via the internet including Facebook Marketplace, Facebook Garage Sale Groups, Craigslist, Ebay, and others have replaced the need for the AHBC Bike Swap's existence.
