Riding the Katy Trail, presented by Sheri Rosenbaum, our friend from the Wheeling Wheelmen
Sheri Rosenbaum will be presenting on her experience riding the Katy Trail in Missouri. This famous Rails-to-Trails was built on the former corridor of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad and is now 300 miles long.
Sheri has loved biking all her life and became a true roadie about 25 years ago. She's competed in time trials, triathlons and recently started fat tire biking. In 2014, at the age of 51, she checked off a full distance AquaBike race from her bucket list (2.4 mile swim and 112 mile bike).
She's an advocate to get more people to join the sport of cycling, especially women. To empower women--particularly those over 50--to embrace their bodies and fitness, she started a blog "Fifty, Fit and Fabulous" (fifftyfitfabulous.blogspot.com). Also, as the Midwest Strava Ambassador from 2013-2015, she had a platform to promote cycling and encourage women to leverage the app. Sheri was selected to be part of Pearl Izumi's first Women's Ride Champion team in 2016 and in 2017 became an ambassador for the Venus de Miles ride. She also shares her passion for cycling by being on the board of directors and volunteering with Dare2tri Paratriathlon Club.
In January 2016, Sheri became a contributing writer and product reviewer for RoadBikeRider.com. She brings a female voice to a male dominated industry. For 17 years she was on the board of the Wheeling Wheelmen Cycling Club and is also a member of the BBC, BCLC, Bluegrass and Sacramento Wheelmen bike clubs.
Sheri rides between 5000 and 6000 outdoor miles a year and owns four bikes: two road, a cyclocross and a fat tire bike.
