Board Membership (Alan Gibbs)

Two changes were proposed to the Board as follows:

§          Proposal to add Ron McPheron as Treasurer to replace Mitch Polonsky who resigned from the Board.

§          Proposal to add Ford Sakata as Secretary to replace Scott Schaedel who requested to step down to a regular Board position (standing member) once a replacement was named.

Both proposals were unanimously passed by the Board and would be recommended for Vote at the General Membership meeting.

Membership (Paula Matzek)

The membership renewal period had just started so a full membership report will be provided at the March meeting.  Membership forms are available.  Completed forms with payment should be sent to Paula.

Treasury (Alan Gibbs)

Because of the vacant Treasury position, a full Treasury report was not provided.  The only significant expense incurred since the January meeting was the 50% down payment made for the jersey order.

Jersey Update (Ford Sakata)

The Club order for jerseys has been placed with Hincapie Sportwear.  A total of 97 jerseys were ordered by members.  A small number of extra jerseys were ordered for new members.  Delivery of the jerseys is expected in early May.

Swap Meet (Dave Martin)

The Bike Swap will be held April 24, 2010.  Dave provided an update regarding the bar coding equipment for the swap.  He also offered a demonstration for interested Board members.

Other discussions included facilities set up and canopies.  Christine Van Dornick to inquire about borrowing canopies from the park district.

Bike swap flyers were available for distribution to local bike shops, stores, libraries, restaurants, etc.  A distribution sheet was available for members to use to sign up to drop off swap flyers.

Arlington 500 (Alan Gibbs for Don Ami)

The Arlington 500 ride is scheduled for May 16, 2010.  Al read a status report from Don which said that planning is on schedule.  The event has been listed on several bike event calendars including the League of Illinois Bicyclists.  Flyers and a press release have been issued.  A volunteer list was circulated at the January general membership meeting but additional volunteers will be needed.  The Club will need to purchase insurance for the event.  Good weather has been ordered for the event.

Stationary Bike Donation to AH Senior Center (Jim Shoemaker)

Jim Shoemaker proposed that the Club donate a stationary exercise bike to the Arlington Heights Senior Center for $2199 to support the Community.  The senior center contacted Jim about the donation because their equipment was due for replacement.  The Board members present supported the donation however Al Gibbs proposed to hold a vote until the new Treasurer had an opportunity to review the Club finances.  If finances were in order, Al would ask for a Board vote via email.  This would also be raised at the General Membership meeting immediately following the Board meeting.
