Joint Rides

AHBC has a history of joint rides with other bicycle clubs close to Arlington Heights.

Members are able to get mileage credit by signing each clubs official sign in sheet and maintaining membership in each club.

Tuesday and Thursday Bakery Ride

The Bakery Ride is a joint ride with the Wheeling Wheelmen. The ride leaves from Willow Stream Park on Old Checker Road about 1/2 mile west of the Deerfield Bakery on Buffalo Grove Road in Buffalo Grove. During Spring and Summer the ride leaves promptly at 9AM and during Fall and Winter the ride leaves promptly at 10AM. Exact times are posted on both clubs ride calendar. These rides range is speed from the low end of intermediate to the high end of advanced, everyone is welcome and on nice days there is very likely someone else riding your desired speed.

While there are cue sheets for the Bakery Rides, members occasionally deviate from the routes. The bakery rides don't have a leader nor a sweep rider. Riders breakup into ad-hoc groups based on speed and conditions. Some riders choose a 32 mile loop while others prefer 40 mile loop. The Tuesday loops differ from the Thursday loops but both loops head west towards Barrington.

When the roads are too slick or temperatures are too cold, you may find members taking a brisk 3 to 4 mile walk at the designated time. Members often congregate at the Deerfield Bakery subsequent to the ride (or walk). If its too cold to walk outdoors then an indoor walk on the indoor track at Camelot Park (Arlington Heights Park District) or Community Recreation Center (Wheeling Park District) is used. Post ride or walk social time at the bakery follows.

Sunday Morning Ride

Sunday morning intermediate rides are periodically a joint ride with the Mt Prospect Bike Club. These rides are listed in the ride calendar of both clubs.
